(1) Here we explain how your personal data is processed when you use our website. Personal data is all data that can be related to you personally, e.g., name, address, e-mail address and user behaviour.

(3) When you contact us by e-mail or via our press form, we save the data you provide (your e-mail address, and name and telephone number, if applicable) in order to answer you. We delete the data accrued in this context once it is no longer needed or limit its processing if legal retention requirements apply.

(4) Here we inform you in detail about how we use service providers for individual features of our offer or should we wish to use your data for advertising. We also explain the guidelines for determining retention periods.

(5) To prevent unauthorised third parties accessing your personal data, we encrypt the connection using TSL (Transport Layer Security) technology.

§ 2 Personal data collected when you visit our website

When you merely visit our website for informational purposes, that is, if you do not register or otherwise provide us with information, we only collect the personal data that your browser transmits to our server. If you wish to view our website, we collect the following data, which is technically necessary for us to display the website and ensure its stability and security (on the legal basis of Art. 6 (1) (1)( f) of the GDPR). The following data and information are stored in the server’s log files:

time zone difference to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)
content of the request (concrete page)
access status/HTTP status code
data transfer volume for each case
requesting website
browser
operating system and interface
language and version of the browser software.

Your IP address is stored in a logging protocol for a maximum of nine days, then anonymised and deleted after at most nine weeks.

This general data and information is not used to draw any conclusions about you. Data in server log files are stored separately from the personal data you provide.

§ 3 Your rights

You have the following rights with regard to your personal data:

the Right to Information in accordance with Art. 15 GDPR in conjunction with § 34 BDSG (the German data protection act).

the Right to Rectification in accordance with Art. 16 GDPR.

the Right to Erasure in Art. 17 GDPR in conjunction with § 35 BDSG.

the Right to Restrict Processing in accordance with Art. 18 GDPR.

the Right to Data Portability in Art. 20 GDPR

the Right of Appeal to a competent data protection supervisory authority pursuant to Art. 77 GDPR in conjunction with § 19 BDSG. To exercise your right to complain, contact our data protection officer or the competent data protection supervisory authority.

the Right to Object in accordance with Art. 21 GDPR.

§ 4 Objection or consent revocation with respect to the processing of your data

(1) If you have given your consent to having your data processed, you may revoke this at any time. Such a revocation affects the permissibility of processing the personal data you have provided.

(2) Because we base processing of your personal data on balancing interests, you may object to such processing if it is not required to perform a contract with you, as we show below in the descriptions of each feature. When exercising such an objection, we ask you to explain why we should not process your personal data as we have done. Should your objection be justified, we will review your argument and either cease processing your data or adapt it – or show you our compelling legitimate interests for continuing to process your data.

§ 5 Automated decision-making, including profiling, in individual cases

(1) You have the right to not be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing – including profiling – which affects you legally or which significantly impacts you in a similar negative manner. This applies unless the decision is required to conclude or perform a contract between us or is permissible on the basis of legal provisions of the European Union or its member states to which we are subject, and these legal provisions take appropriate measures to safeguard your rights and freedoms as well as your legitimate interests, or we have your express consent.

(2) If the decision is necessary to conclude or fulfil a contract, or if it is based on your express consent, we will take appropriate measures to safeguard your rights and freedoms and legitimate interests, including at least the right to obtain the intervention of a responsible person, express your point of view and contest the decision.

(3) If you would like to assert your rights with regard to automated decisions, you can contact us at any time. As a responsible company, we do not use automated decision-making or profiling.

§ 6 Retention period

Unless a section of this data protection statement explicitly regulates the deletion period for certain data, we will delete your personal data in accordance with the respective legal retention periods or when the retention period no longer applies. Once the deadline has expired, the data will be routinely deleted, provided that it is no longer needed to fulfil or initiate a contract.

§ 7 Further functions and offers on our website

(1) In addition to the purely informational use of our website, you may also use the various services there. That usually requires you to provide more personal data so that we can provide the respective service and to which the aforementioned data processing principles apply.

(2) In some cases, we use external service providers to process your data. These we have carefully selected and commissioned; they are bound by our instructions and are regularly monitored.

(3) We may pass on your personal data to third parties if we offer campaigns, contracts or similar services with partners. Detailed information about this is given when you provide your personal data or in the description of the offer.

(4) If our service providers or partners are based in a country outside the European Economic Area (EEA), we inform you of the consequences of that in the description of the offer.

§ 8 External Links

On our website we use specially marked links to other websites (external links). Their contents are not on our server. The external contents of these links were checked when the links were set. However, the content may have since been changed by the providers. Should you notice that the content of the external provider violates applicable law, please inform us. This data protection statement applies only to content on our website.

§ 9 Use of Google Analytics

(1) This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies”, text files stored on your computer to help analyse how you use the website. Information generated by a cookie is usually transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. When IP anonymisation is activated on this website, Google does not transmit your complete IP address within European Union member states or other states that are party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google uses this information to evaluate your use of the website, compile reports on website activity and provide other services relating to website activity and internet usage to the website operator.

(2) The IP address transmitted by your browser to Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data.

(3) You can refuse cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser. This may, however, prevent the website’s full functionality. You can prevent Google collecting data about your use of the website (including your IP address) and processing this data – by downloading and installing this browser add-on: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de.

(4) This website uses Google Analytics with the “anonymizeIp()” extension. That means that the last 8 bits of IP addresses are deleted in order to limit tracking. Any personal data that can be allocated to a unique person will not be transmitted to Google and personal data will be erased immediately.

(5) We use Google Analytics to analyse and regularly improve our website’s functionality – using the statistics obtained to improve our offer and make it more interesting for you as a user. For the exceptional cases in which personal data is transferred to the USA, Google complies with the EU-US Privacy Shield, https://www.privacyshield.gov/EU-US-Framework. The legal basis for the use of Google Analytics is Art. 6 Para. 1 (f) of the GDPR.

(7) This website also uses Google Analytics for cross-device analysis of user flows through a user ID. You may deactivate cross-device analysis of your usage in your customer account under “Data & Personalization”.

§ 10 Integration of Vimeo Plugins

(1) We use Vimeo to embed videos on our website. Vimeo is operated by Vimeo, Inc., headquartered at 555 West 18th Street, New York, New York 10011.

(2) Our website uses Vimeo plugins and transmits data outlined in § 2 of this statement to Vimeo –regardless of whether you are logged into a Vimeo user account, and even if no user account exists. When you visit pages of our website that have such plugins, a connection is established to Vimeo servers and the plugin is displayed. This tells the Vimeo server the webpages you have visited. If you are logged in as a Vimeo member, Vimeo assigns this information to your personal account. When using the plugin, such as by clicking on the play button of a video, this information is also assigned to your account. You can prevent this assignment by logging out of your Vimeo user account and deleting the relevant Vimeo cookies before using our website.

§ 11 Use of Cookies

(1) Besides the data mentioned above, cookies are stored on your computer when you use our website. These small text files are stored on your hard drive and assigned to your browser, providing specific information to the party who set the cookies (in this case, us). Cookies cannot execute programmes or infect your computer with viruses. They help to make our online offer more user-friendly and effective.

(2) This website uses “persistent cookies” that are automatically deleted at predetermined expiration dates, which may differ depending on the cookie. You can delete cookies in the security settings of your browser at any time. You can also configure your browser based on your preferences, for example, you may refuse third-party cookies – or all cookies. Please note that deleting all cookies may prevent some of the website’s features functioning properly.

e) We use cookies to identify you on subsequent visits – assuming you have an account with us. Without them, you would have to log in at each visit.

f) “Flash cookies” (“Local Shared Objects” or LSOs) are not planted by your browser but by Flash applications. We use HTML5 storage objects that are stored on your end device. These objects store the necessary data independent of the browser and have no automatic expiration date. They are also not easy to locate in the browser. To avoid having Flash cookies processed, install the appropriate add-on, such as “Better Privacy” for Mozilla Firefox (https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/betterprivacy/) or the Adobe Flash-killer cookie for Google Chrome. You can prevent use of HTML5 storage objects on Google Chrome by setting your browser to “Incognito”. We recommend that you manually delete your cookies and browser history on a regular basis.
