The mathematics teacher Jelena Sergejewna is alone. She is a simple and modest woman who sacrificed her personal happiness for the ideals of morality, ethics and humanism, an Antigone, whose idealistic notion of truth is elevated to a principle! She is an almost crushing monument of honesty, nobleness and loyality to ethos, she lives by ‘real’ virtue and ideals and refuses to aspire to ‘primitive prosperity’.
